Fryday September 20

Unexpected
Totally caught me off guard, Jonathan came over to drop off his present for me.  When he asked me if I was gonna be home yesterday, I totally thought he was saying that the delivery guy would deliver it to me...  If I'd known Jon was coming in person, I would've washed my face (at least) haha.  So like, yeah, embarassed.  Expect your gift to come in soon my cosmic twin. ^_^  (BTW - did you get buffer?)

Vegabond Chronicles
I journeyed off to downtown LA again to see what I'd run into.  Nothing really.  Although it did feel really good to get out of the house.  I guess I must've looked like a lost tourist because two people came up to me and asked if they could give me directions, haha.

Another year closer to death
Yesh, I'm 19 now.  Don't feel any different, but at least I'm a year closer to not being a "teen".  What have I accomplished?  I've maintained my straight-edge lifestyle (no smoke, no drink).  I didn't really fulfill my promise to myself from last year (to become a hardcore vegan) but meat is just too good. ^_^'  Anywho, thanks all ye's people for wishing me a happy birthday.  Believe me, I'm happy... bored, but happy. (self-contradiciton?  I don't believe so)

School Stuff *yawn*
I went to see an advisor... not particularly my advisor, but Connie Utterback was the only faculty member in the entire art dept who was able to give any advisement at this time.  She's cool.  Straight forward and clear... and best of all, she's nice.  She laid out my course plan for the next two years, sorta.  I'm going into a phase where I'm going to take nothing but art classes (yay!) but the road is askewed.  I can go on my normal route of computer graphic design, or transition into computer animation.  Oddly enough, computer animation is a LOT easier than graphic design.  I guess Cal State LA likes to get medieval on their design students.
Did I mention before that I wanted to get into computer animation?  I know that courses are hard on that path, but it seems so rewarding.  Oh well.

Mac, Most Definitely
I've decided to get a iBook... as soon as I get money for it.  If I get ample funds, I may even go for a Powerbook G4.  Why the Mac?  Lemme explain.  It's more of the "no-hassle, no-brainer" of the computer choices out there.  And wiht all the talk about Microsoft software vulnerabilities, well, I'm just tired of having to deal with so many security patches and the lotte.  Yes, even though Macs are pricey, I do believe the iBook 700mhz 12.1" is up to par with the PC contenders in the same price range (except for RAM upgrades, that's why you shouldn't ever buy RAM from the Mac online store).

Cry for Help
Can someone PLEASE plan a trip to some place?  Any place?  Preferably a group gathering thing?!  I need something to do before school starts on the 26th.  As soon as school starts, I'm gonna be hardcore art student--a complete study-a-holic, and devoted to my life's passion... and you'll probably see me at school wearing an incoherent fashion mistake, with grungy hair, and smelling of a combination of coffee and last months garbage take-out.

BTW and OMG
          She's got html skeellls.  *werrd*

Fanfare
It's Jonathan's birphday today!  Happy Birthday!  What am I getting for Jonathan?  I haven't the faintest... seriously.

Beach Brrrrrr
Went to the beach with a whole lotta people (many of whom I knew, and some that I didn't).  I had an okay time... although I regretted saying some witty phrase that got a few people all shocked.  How was I supposed to know they've never heard anyone say "sucking-heads" before?  (someone asked where Jaime and James were, and I said "they're probably out somewhere sucking heads", which was probably true eh).  But anywho, depend on Will to keep the ball rolling.  The guys kept saying it the rest of the day.  Shawn said that I'll never live it down from know on... I'm going to be "the guy who said sucking-heads."  *sigh*
The beach was freaking cold by the time it was 4pm.  I started shivering like a crack-head in a seizure.  By the end of the day, my back muscles were aching so much from all the shivering.  Not to mention the frozen foods and cold beverages...  Then I realized all the things I forgot to bring to the beach.  Like my freaking camera.  I know I promised to take more pics of people, but I completely forgot to pack.  Next, I knew I shoulda brought a thermos of hot coffee.  Even though there was a bonfire, it was only a matter of time before the smoke would burn the be-geezus out of my eyes.  Lastly, I should've brought a wind-breaker jacket (although I don't really have one in my wardrobe, but I could've just waltzed over to Mervyn's to buy one while we were waiting at AHS).
I had a good time... it beats staying home all summer. ^_^

A Moment to Myself
Jimmy from San Gab asked me what I was going to do for my birthday since we've stopped doing the hiking tradition.  Every year on my birthday, we used to randomly choose a place to hike and go.  But we officially stopped, I think, since 2000 because half of the usual group had moved out of state.  We also didn't go in 6th grade because most of us caught the flu that year (haha).
This year, I don't know what I'm gonna do.  I'll probably stay home again.  No biggie.  I just wanna go back to school again because I'm freaking bored.  (3 art classes baby!  wooo!)  Not to mention the hefty check I'll be getting--Powerbook G4 here I come!

What do I have to say today?...
...absolutely nothing... except to say that I'm relieving distained feelings about people by creating flash animations.  Here's my first one.  Can you guess who's being be-headed?  *bitch* It's someone *bitch* I used *bitch* to know *bitch* and commented on before *bitch*.  I had a dream where I did just the same thing (except I had a beat down stick, and it took many hits to achieve the same affect). ^_^'  Not that I've become psychopathic, or cold-hearted, but I've never felt so unburdened since I de-associated with her.  This is truly a starbucks moment.

...forgot to post these old pics I took. (same links available in galleries).  I promise I'll post up people pics, as soon as I get some (hee hee hee...)

Mac vs PC
I don't know (or understand) this, but apparently, it makes Macs look better, I guess....

Windows XP Bug Alert
I was watching my fix of The Screen Savers on TechTV today and Leo gave me the heebeejeebeez.  Apparently, there's a major bug in all versions of Windows XP that allows a url to delete files on your hard drive in any specified directory.  The "middle-man" of this bug is this file called "uplddrvinfo.htm" somewhere in the Windows directory.  When the url is clicked, it opens up this .htm file and deletes files in a certain directory(s?) that the url has been specified to.  So if I were you, I'd download the service pack from Microsoft right NOW... I'm not kidding.
For those of you who aren't very techy and don't think it won't happen to you, well, it will sooner or later.  Why?  Because now that this bug has been announced, screwed up people will obviously try to implement this bug in websites.  Also, this bug will run it self if you open an html-based email or merely use Outlook (I still hate Outlook, cuz of that very flaw... it'll open html-based email by merely selecting it, not necessarily having the user to fully open it).  So technically, you could activate this flaw by merely opening a webpage!  I'm sure scripts will allow urls to be automatically activated when a page is viewed.
For a temporary fix, you could rename the "uplddrvinfo.htm" file to have a different suffix like "uplddrvinfo.htm.shiz", but again, it's only a temporary fix, and I'm not gauranteeing it'll work all the time (...you know how microsoft is all quirky).  I know I've written an awful lot, but this is definetly serious.  GO DOWNLOAD IT NOW.  (Is this a sign for me to decide on a Mac?  Probably...)

Mac Vs PC
I've been trying to decide whether I should get a Mac or a PC notebook.  I hate the fact that Macs are more expensive for features you can find in a PC for a lot cheaper.  But I still find Macs to be pretty cool.  Not that PC's have lost their cooless in my mind, but it'd be refreshing to have a Mac on-the-go so I can work on the go.  The Mac notebooks look a lot better than many of the PC notebooks out there (that I can actually afford).  Not to offend anyone's tasted, but I find a LOT of the PC notebooks to be extremely ugly.  Ugly in the visual appeal AND ergonomics.  Some PC notebooks are noticeably heavier than Macs and are typically shelled in pure crappy plastic.  What's especially ugly is the shameless "logo molding" where the manufacturer puts their ugly logo on the notebook (ie - Sony's VAIO logo on the notebook shell).  The Mac does the same thing, but the apple is simple enough to give my eye some peace.
What's wrong with a Mac?  It's too pricy.  For the same features of the high-end Titanium Powerbook G4, I could probably get two PC notebooks with the same features of the G4.  Sad.  The iBook isn't that bad.  The price on the high end iBook is the equivalent to a PC notebook of the same features, but it's only a G3, not a G4, so say bye bye to the only advantage to the Mac.  I also have a problem with the availability of software for the Mac.  I honestly don't believe the mumbo jumbo about the Mac having a wide selection *fooey*... it's a lie.  They do have a lot of the same software that PC's use, but most of the time, they too are more pricey than their PC versions.  Geez, when will Steve Jobes(?) get it through his big head of his that more people will buy a mac if it's price can actually compete with the PC?!  Freagin..!
But still, Macs are cool.  I've been allowed to tweak around a friend's iBook during summer quarter at Calstate and lemme tell you, I've never felt so relaxed.  The performance, speed wise wasn't noticeably different than a PC of it's equal caliber, but there's a certain "no-hassle" aura around it.  Okay... It's more certain now.
Chances of getting a PC: 35%
Chances of getting a Mac: 65%

*scream*
I wanted to take a long, pipping hot shower.  You know, the kind of shower to numb the achey-ness from a horribly uncomfortable nights sleep?  Anywho, right when I got in the shower, someone freagin knocks on the door crazily.  I start to freak and got out of the shower.  After I speedily dressed up and ran out to see what the emergency was, I find out that it was my lil brother knocking on the door... to retrieve the laundry hamper.  Okay.  This is annoying to the tenth degree.  I feel like smashing his face in the stucco wall and rubbing it in until the wall was smooth.  Just one of those days.

BBQ
Went to a backdoor BBQ... again.  Seems like everyone's having or has held a BBQ more than usual this year.  I guess it's because we're all out of things to do since high school.  I dunno.  *shrugs*

Tada
Decided to change the design of the site.  Relatively, the layout is the same.  I haven't really updated any of the galleries because I'm sorting through all of the crappy pictures I've taken thus far. ^_^

Photography
I've gotten the hang of most of the features on the Canon Powershot S30.  I just don't get the manual focus though.  When you're tweaking the focus manually, they pop up a zoomed-in segment of the viewing area.  This popped up viewing area is extremely blurry, no matter how focused you are.  So I can't definitely tell if the picture is going to be sharp or not until I actually take the picture.
Why do I take so many pictures of the same thing?  Because you usually get a better chance of capturing a better quality picture.  These things are extremely sensitive to camera shakiness, so some macro shots will come out all fuzzy.  This is obviously a problem after I've buzzed down a cup of coffee, but it's coo.

Freedom to do Nothing
I've finally reached my summer vacation, but I have no plans.  Bummer.  So when are we going to Magic Mt. peoples?  Give me a jingle.

Uh oh, he's on the move again
Yes, the rumors are true, I'm going to probably do another site make-over.  I'm looney, what can I say?  Now that I've only got my bio final to take care of (and I'm not going to study for it, because I got B's on both of my midterms without studying--so why go against fate, yah?) I feel the urge to spruce everything up, including my site, my room, and perhaps even go as far as buying myself a CORNER-FREAGIN-DESK that I've been obsessing about since I last visited Fry's (which wasn't that long ago, haha).  I just want my room not to look so heavy and clunky.  And what better way than to get rid of this clunky desk (which has two defective legs) and get a sturdier, space saving desk with shelves for speakers, the computer/subwoofer/scanner, the printer, and uh, an empty shelf to look spiffy ^_^.  If anyone has visited Fry's, you've probably seen it in the furniture section in the back.  Very tall.  Can't miss it.  *mentally wanders off*  Aaaaah.... sweet bliss...

Bipolar
If I didn't know any better, I swear I think I'm bipolar.  With that said, I got extremely pissed, really depressed, and back to being norm.  I really have to get away for a while.

Elitist Asshole
I didn't think I would run into another one of these rare breed of people in my class, but I did.  There was this snobbish girl in my psychology class that made the rudest comment about middle/lower class people.  What she said I dare not say in my own blog, but I know for a fact that she's a rich little bitch (hey, that rhymed)... and sad to say, she owns a Titanium G4 laptop.  I love the Titanium G4, so don't get me wrong, but I couldn't help but feel like I've seen this scenario before.  Then when I got home, I finally remembered...

Obsessive Compulsive When I Shouldn't Be
Someone asked me if I had taken the job as web designer for CalState LA's site, what would I do first.  Well for one thing, I'd change that tacky image map they have on the main page.  I'd also change the arrangement of the links they shove to the side panel because they look out of place, not to mention that some of the links are redundant.  So in my psychoticness and boredom, I've made my own version of the main page of CSULA's site.  Here's the originalAnd here's my version.  Personally, I say mine is spiffier with the new image map.  I'm not quite done with this test page (I can't figure out where to put those stupid side-panel links), but expect to see more changes as my boredom grows.

Fall is Coming!  We should go sweater shopping...
I've just registered my fall quarter schedule this morning, so if you're interested, check out the "mind" section of my bio for the class listing.  If any of you want my tweaked version of the GE chart with page numbers to the catalog, IM or email me.
I'm very aware of how my schedule looks like.  Apparently, they're seperating speech class (comm150) into two half quarters... weird.  I don't know the purpose of splitting the class like that, but who really cares, right?  But the first part of speech starts for the first five weeks, and the last five weeks are the "recitation" part.  Only the recitation part is labeled as four units, soooo.... can I just attend the last five weeks for credit?
I'm also digging the idea for sweater shopping.  I don't know why, but I'm just a fanatical sweater lover.  Sweaters rule!  They're so comfy and warm...  Don't get me wrong, I'm still searching for the perfect trench coat, but that's been going on forever now.

Jaime's B-Day
Went to Jaime's suprise birthday party today.  It was okay for a "party"... although I sorta wished there was more to do than, well, this...

Hours of fun filled entertainment, watching half naked kids swim...
(no further comment on my part...)
PS - parents who'd let their kids wear speedos should be shot.

So for those of you who didn't, couldn't, or wouldn't come... at least wish Jaime a happy birthday.  Have some pity for the girl who ended up with James--haha... J/K ^_^'

More Posted Stuff
I act as if though my art caca is good.  I know it's not.  But for my personal fullfillment, I've reposted a lot of my previous work.  Some of the stuff should be familiar to those who've visited my old sites before.

Tuesday August 6, 2002

I can't help it... it's a compulsive need to change my site layout.  I know this is a subtle change, but nonetheless, it's a bit different.  I'm never really satisfied with how it turns out.  Maybe I just need to broaden my html knowledge.  I'm very gui dependant I tell ya...  By now, I've forgotten how many times I've changed the layout.  Am I on version 8.3 or something like that since fall of 2000?  Remember my first site?  Lots of falling autumn leaves.  Initially, I was going to change the site based on the season it was, but by the time spring rolled around, I got really tired of seeing the leaves/petals fall and caca.  Managing the multiple links got to be a hassle because I didn't know any other convenient ways of handling it (thank goodness for Flash MX).  Again, I'm sorry that I'm not using text links for navigation, but I just find it easier this way.  Most browsers should be able to support this site anyways.  The only time I've encountered problems thus far is from the Netscape browsers in CafeLA at CalStateLA... but that's because the browser version is really old.

Saturday August 3, 2002

I've just posted photos in the galleries.  Feedback would be appreciated... except for "focus" issues... I haven't gotten the hang of manual focusing yet. ^_^

Gleeful Bliss
My digital camera is finally in!  Be forewarned!  I'll be out there snapping away!

Employed? Not a Chance
I went to Cal State LA today along with Jesse, serving as moral support for his job thingie.  I wouldn't have expect to get lured into a job myself, but Philipe and Jesse had tempted me to apply for a position as a web designer or a graphic designer.  Sure, at first hearing about it, it seemed interesting enough for my attention, but the requirements set me into the real perspective... I need experience.  Haha ^_^  Sure, I know how to use Dreamweaver and Photoshop, but I hardly know any raw html coding, java stuff, and all that jazz.  I'm very gui dependant, so entering codes is a real challenge for me.  Maybe I should study scripting on my own time?..  Couldn't hurt.  Anywho, I probably couldn't handle the responsibilities.  Have you ever seen me under pressure after a few cups of coffee?  I turn into a spitting image of Tweak from South Park.

The Priviledge of College = You Can Ditch When You Feel Like It
After I entered my blog entry yesterday, I felt too icky to subdue myself to voluntary torture in my psychology class.  So on my way to the phone booth at King Hall, I ran (or actually, he ran) into Jesse, who finally got his Hep shot after about a year in CalState (a gazillion in "coffee-drinker years").  So you could guess that I just ditched with Jesse and went out on a time-killing spree.  Went to Sizzler's for a much overdue salad, and flew over to Glendale Galleria for a long search for shiny things.  I still can't believe Brookstone still over charges for those memory-foam pillows.  Anywho, no luck with finding a trench coat (still searching for a decent, non-leather, non-floofy, thin, wool trench coat).  I know it's summer, but out-of-season clothes and apparel are usually marked down.  After that, we decided to go to Fry's because a road trip isn't ever complete without a visit to Fry's. ^_^
Gawking at the Samsung monitor/tv tuner that features picture-in-picture, we also ran into an external tv tuner that had the PIP feature.  Jesse, of course, drooled over it.  So we ended up getting that (I think it's called X-Media something something, by a company called Jaton).  I picked up new 2.1 speakers, a headphone splitter, and a computer microphone for meshelf.  So what is the total loan I've lent to Jesse so far?  I think it's about $187 right now... but I'm deducting the $47 dollars from the jacket purchase because it was mostly a gift anyway.  So he just owes me $140 (which is just the monitor tv-tuner itself).  During the time that we were debating whether he should get the tuner now or later, I kept reminding him about other purchases he should be considering.  YOU KNOW WHAT I"M TALKING ABOUT JESSE... *cough cough*  Get your priorities straight man.

Birthday Shopping
So like, I was reminded that I should shop for a coupl'a people.  Jaime and Jenny's birthdays are coming up (coincidentally, they share the same b-day).  During my journey through the mall, the typical thing happens, you start seeing things you'd like to buy for yourself rather than for the interest of the birthday person.  I even ran into a good present for Jonathan, but his birthday isn't until September... and whether he has the item already is very questionable.  If he's truly fanatical about this stuff, he probably has it mounted on his computer monitor or something.  Anywho, I'd hate to give gift-certificates as a present.  As practical as they may seem, I'd feel like a lame-o, lazy gift-giver... cuz that's what gift certificates signal, "I'm too lazy to shop for you, so why don't you do it for me?  By the way, happy birthday."
